Even with only nine songs, Lil Uzi Vert Vs. The World packs enough punch to both shoot Lil Uzi Vert into the mainstream and set him apart from a bustling mid-2010’s Soundcloud wave. His charisma and delivery consistently give his music a unique flavor. There’s something so fun about how Uzi sounds; you can’t help but smile at it at times. The synth-heavy production is equally as colorful and bouncy as he is, thanks to producers Maaly Raw, Don Cannon, and Metro Boomin’. Few rappers could even use that type of production, let alone match Uzi’s performance over it. It’s no wonder why this album is not only considered his best by many, but was many people’s introduction into Lil Uzi Vert, as it’s the best and most concise summary of his uniqueness and hitmaking ability. – Alan (8.5/10)
Luv Is Rage is a nice tape, but it remains clear that Lil Uzi Vert vs. The World is the tape that really got things going for the North Philly rockstar. Where this breakout mixtape thrives is in the natural flow of energy that delivers Uzi in an otherworldly lit kind of experience. From one moment to the next in a succession of nine, each song on Lil Uzi Vert vs. The World keeps the fun and excitement going without even a brief stoppage. It is worth noting that the combined effect of Don Cannon, Metro Boomin, and Maaly Raw as songwriters and producers helped propel this project to new heights, and it continues to compete for the top spot in the somewhat stacked discography of Lil Uzi Vert some five years later. – DeVan (8.5/10)
