To nearly everyone’s surprise, Lil Yachty secretly conspired with numerous R&B, indie, and psych-rock heavyweights for years to create his latest album. From Mac DeMarco, Dev Hynes, and Ben Goldwasser of MGMT fame, to Daniel Caesar and Magdalena Bay, the credits for Let’s Start Here. are an awesome ‘who’s who’ of dynamic songwriters and producers. The record isn’t without its weaknesses, like Yachty’s limitations as a singer and lyricist; many listeners will continue to be fairly divided about the album’s virtues and faithfulness to the neo-psych experience. For me, this record sells itself on its commitment to finding the common grounds between rap, pop, and the many flavors of guitar music. – DeVán (7.5/10)

Community Reviews:

If you wanna call this hip-hop, it’s the most important record in the genre since Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers. This record feels genre-less; you get elements of like Pink Floyd, Frank Ocean, Ye, Tame Impala, Beach House, and even some Teenage Emotions Yachty. Amazing from start to finish. In a sense, you could call this prog-rap. Did I think Yachty was ever capable of creating something even CLOSE to this good? NO. Did he do it though? YES. – @buhrm33 (10/10)

Lil Yachty explores a new genre and it comes out as his best work to date – @zachkrukowski (9/10)

This album makes you wanna float like a Lil Boat. Good album to start the year off with. – @zain.guthrie (8.5/10)
